Luke Trader
Grant Writing and Research
Luke Trader has worked in healthcare for ten years, supporting both provider and payor organizations. His fresh analytical perspective and strong relationship management, communication skills, strategic planning and execution, accountability, and commitment to quality make him an outstanding asset to his clients.
Luke earned his B.S. in Healthcare Administration and B.S. in Kinesiology from SUNY Brockport and continued his education at Roberts Wesleyan University, earning his Master’s in Healthcare Administration. He began his career as a community outreach specialist and AIDS Institute care manager in Rochester, connecting disadvantaged and marginalized individuals to a team of healthcare providers while managing and mitigating social determinants of health. The perspective he gained from this experience remains with him today in the form of empathy and compassion for everyone he interacts with.
Luke transitioned to the operations and finance side of healthcare, moving into a grants management role for Trillium Health, Inc. As a grants manager, Luke strategically planned, executed, and managed the grants department for the community-based health center. This included the full spectrum of grants management—research and application, submission, award, program implementation, and management/reporting—successfully writing both public and private grant opportunities for healthcare and supportive services programs.
Today, Luke serves as a strategy manager for Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield in Rochester. His responsibilities include partnering closely with leaders across the organization to set goals and build roadmaps, reporting progress and holding accountability, and developing and implementing programs to ensure execution of strategic priorities. In his role, Luke leverages his grass-roots healthcare background to create positive relationships, build trust, and drive meaningful change.
Luke enjoys using his expertise to serve the unique needs of each Empreinte client he partners with. Having lived in Rochester for over a decade, he is passionate about seeing the City and surrounding neighborhoods thrive, including the organizations calling Rochester home. Luke lives in Greece and enjoys reading, writing, exercise, cooking, and the Buffalo Bills. He values honesty and transparency, hard work, education, and fun.
