Betsy Bringewatt, Ph.D., MSW

Betsy Bringewatt is a social work professional with nearly two decades of experience in nonprofit leadership, grant writing, evaluation, and program design. She has secured funding from local, state, and national foundations and has extensive expertise in leading program evaluations, designing programs, and implementing strategic initiatives.
Betsy prioritizes relationship-building in all aspects of her work. She brings a unique blend of a relationship-focused approach and analytical skills, meeting clients where they are while crafting data-driven strategies to achieve their goals.
As a collaborative leader, she has guided organizations through key transitions, including serving as Interim CEO of JFS Rochester. She most recently served as Chief Strategy Officer at JFS Rochester, spearheading grant-seeking and grant-writing efforts, leading the integration of best practices and program outcome tracking across the agency, and overseeing a diverse range of programs. Her previous roles include consulting and research positions at Coordinated Care Services, Inc. (CCSI), Child Trends, and the Urban Institute, where she honed her skills in program evaluation and community engagement. Much of her work in these organizations focused on evaluating family services and researching early childhood, informing policy and practice to improve outcomes for children and families.
Betsy holds a Ph.D. in Social Work and Sociology and a Masters of Social Work from the University of Michigan, as well as a Bachelor of Arts from Colgate University. She lives in Brighton, NY, with her husband, two children, and their family dog. She enjoys travel and time outdoors, especially with family and friends.
