Tree Clemonds

Tree has worked for nonprofit organizations here in the Rochester area since 1992. In 2001, she began serving our neighbors experiencing housing instability and continues that work now. Tree received her bachelor’s degree in Social Work from Nazareth College of Rochester in 1997, is trained in the Lawrence Shulman, MD method of interactive supervision and received a certificate in Nonprofit Management at Duke University.

Tree acted as co-chair and chair for Metro Council for Teen Potential, was a Family Talk Facilitator for Family Resource Center, is a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, an Associate of the Sisters of Mercy and active with their Social Justice Committee, is a board member for Monroe County Emergency Food and Shelter Program and has been a member of the Homeless Services Network for 23 years and is currently a co-chair. Since 2013 Tree has also participated in the Point In Time (PIT) count. The PIT happens every January and counts people in emergency shelters and those staying in places not meant for human habitation. The PIT is required by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the results are critical to understand the extent and nature of homelessness and bring public awareness and attention to homelessness and improving/increasing necessary services.

Tree has experience in writing grants and grant management/oversight to receive (and maintain) funds from HUD, Office of Addiction Services and Supports, American Rescue Plan Act, New York State Emergency Rental Assistance Program, Emergency Shelter Grant funds from Monroe County and the City of Rochester, and ESL Federal Credit Union Charitable Foundation.

Locally, Tree works with individuals, youth and families experiencing housing instability, mental and physical health challenges, addiction, and domestic & intimate partner violence. She ensures quality in the development, delivery, evaluation, and improvement of program services provided to individuals and families and makes sure programs are audit ready at all times in anticipation of funder visits and oversight.

Tree lives in Henrietta, NY and shares a home with her aunt and their pets. She enjoys spending as much time as she can with family and friends.
