Matt Cook

Development Content

Matt is our resident creative who specializes in words. A versatile writer, editor, proofreader, and content strategist, he has provided copy and direction for online and printed marketing pieces, such as websites, case statements, brochures, newsletters, sell sheets, emails, ads, and more. Regardless of the assignment, he can deliver the appropriate message and tone. Prior to the creation of any tools or materials, Matt can also help you prioritize your marketing and communications efforts by looking closely at your most important audiences and what you’re currently doing to reach them.

Matt brings nearly a decade of development writing to Empreinte. Mostly recently, he helped craft the foundational messaging for Rochester Regional Health’s Because Care Matters Campaign through 10 case statements. He also helped shape the identities of the system’s annual giving and planned giving societies; develop fundamental resources, such as a website and customizable solicitation folder for the planned giving program; and enliven the promotion of signature and one-time events. Prior to working for Rochester Regional, Matt spent six years as the Advancement Writer for the University of Rochester. There he helped produce a variety of marketing materials recognized by CASE, including brochures for endowed scholarships and professorships (Gold), a website for planned-giving (Silver), and a campaign newsletter (Silver). He was also closely involved with the development of materials used to steward donors and market events.

Matt currently lives in Brighton with his girlfriend, Traci, and their dog, Blanche. He’s avid podcast listener and movie watcher. He also enjoys playing a number of sports. He is alumnus of St. John Fisher College, where he earned a B.A., specializing in Communications and English.
